play this delightful composition while reading
from the movie The Royal Tenenbaums -composer Mark Mothersbaugh
I found out a week and a half ago that I have hypothyroidism
click on the link if you'd like to know more about it
They found out because my mom is in constant concern that I'm anemic,
from being vegetarian/ not getting enough iron in my diet etc,
so I went to the doctors and had my blood tested for this. and that. and anything else.
(mostly for her)
doctor- "what other tests would you like us to do?"
me- "all of them. anything you can think of. "
So a blood test was performed, a nurse called me the next day saying I needed to come back to the doctors to discuss what I have and what needed to be done.
Scary.
I was put on meds that should balance out my T scores.
...they found that my T-scores were low and that even my brain compensating for them could not bring them up to a moderate level (a failing thyroid)
I probably have had this for a very long time
I have felt weak and tired for what seems years
and for no reason
There is no way of knowing unless you are given the test specifically.
So what does this mean for the future?
Not too much to stress about.
I need to take my meds everyday around the same time
and most likely for the rest of my life,
once your thyroid runs low there is no catching it back up without a little help,
and get my blood tested every 6 months to a year, just to make sure everything is in check.
SO we are still trying to figure out the right meds,
which means I'll have those same symptoms until they do
tired, weak, etc
.maybe not a ton of blogging.
on that note
let's end with one of my favorite moments
hypothyroidism? that sucks! i hope you can get everything figured out.
ReplyDeleteplease note that this is my second favorite moment in cinematic history. second to the scene where richie tries to kill himself. best movie ever.
